The traditional first year wedding gift is supposed to be paper. A card, tickets to an event, a book, a love letter, photographs, etc. Congrats!

Congratulations!
The traditional first anniversary gift is paper-based. You could write him a poem, or buy him a book of poems. You could have a photo taken of yourself, to put on his desk at work, or buy him tickets to a game of his favorite sport.
Another option is to make a coupon book...Possibly for his favorite bedroom activities, or for skipping out on the chores he hates the most.

1st anniversary is paper. So get him a gift certficate. If you don't have any money to spend it doesn't have to be to a store. Maybe it could be a homemade 'coupon' for a free back rub. Or his favorite dinner?
Go to my source link for other ideas. One lady paid her hubby's boat loan, he gave her a note saying, "Don't forget to pay the boat loan."

!st anniversary is Paper. My husband is a reader, so I went to Alibris.com and got him a first edition book from his favorite author, it really wasn't all that expensive.

Why dont you just spend a day together, have a picnic or spend a day at a hotel or something and just celebrate that you've made it a year.
