I would suggest finding a local rescue centre. They will make sure the kitten is healthy, been vet checked, had teeth and claws checked, wormed, vaccinated, microchipped and neutered if old enough, before putting it up for rehoming. They will be able to tell you it's temperamant and if it's suitable for you and your circumstances.
Many youngsters come from breeders who's 'stock' does not conform by way of markings not in the proper place and such like., or from people who can't find homes for their kittens. Giving a rescued animal gives you a sense of achievement by rehoming an unwanted and unloved pet, and helping a charity with your donation to continue their good work, instead of just getting from a shop or breeder who has little interest in the health of the animals they provide. Good luck.

Hi, if you were prepared to have a 16 week old kitten then there is one, available free, in Bulwell advertised on the Preloved website:
http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.listadverts/86aa5dc1.html

Unfortunately, it's not quite 'kitten season' yet & so there are only a few around (I'm sure there will be lots in the next couple of months) so some of the sites currently have none advertised in Nottingham but it might be worthwhile looking & also putting a wanted ad on these sites:
http://www.kittenlist.co.uk/index.php?page=adverts&klv=28f6ce4a531332c95ed8119c9d4c1b5d

http://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pets4homes/home.nsf/PV?SearchView&Query=(FIELD%20TypeTX=Cats)%20%20AND%20(FIELD%20PA_LocationsTX%20CONTAINS%20nottingham)%20&start=1&count=10&SearchOrder=3&ExactMatch=True&SearchWV=FALSE&SearchFuzzy=FALSE&SearchMax=200

If you'd like to try a rescue centre - this excellent website has a list of them in your area, complete with contact details, links & sometimes even photos of the cats & kittens needing homes:
http://www.catchat.org/adoption/notts.html

I'd also recommend looking in your local newspaper & in the windows of your local petshops & newsagents & also trying local vets as they may know where some are available.

Good luck

It's not really the time of year for kittens. There may be a few litters around but you'd do well to wait a couple of months. They'll be loads around then. Check out your local RSPCA or cat protection league.

try the RSPCA they need homes and are usually inundated at this time of the year. I got one on Christmas Eve and they had lots (in Derbyshire rather that Notts but still likely)
