I recommend Microsoft because most of small companies designing their software's for Microsoft and also you can get driver for your hardware's if you use Microsoft technologies, If you want switch to any thing else i recommend Linux ( Redhat or mandrake )

well, most of the software i like is only compatable with windows. i like the windows os a lot more than mac.
