if god only answers according to His will?? if he already has your path set in this world, why pray to him to change/answer it?? doesn't your perfect god already know how you feel/think anyway, so why just trust him??

see, what's the point of praying then??

btw, you have the same success rate praying to a cucumber as if you prayed to a 'god'...but at least the cucumber isn't imaginary.

Great question. I read a post from a christian who claimed that god only answers prayers according to his will. If prayers don't change gods will...then why pray?? I've noticed you haven't gotten a single decent response to you question so far.

I can see praying has done you no good. It's done ME good. I've SEEN the results of prayer. It's like your parent when you were a child. Even though your parent already knew what you were going to ask, didn't they like you asking anyway? It's the same concept. You go pray to your cucumber, I'll stick with the almighty God, thank you very much.

praying is a sort of therapy... sometiems you jsut have to get into words whats going on in order to best deal with them. It is in a sense like meditation.. only i hate to disagree with the person before me, but it's not watered down meditation... its just as strong if not stronger because it's about faith...

on a side note... yes, praying to a cucumber is likely as successful as praying to god to those who don't believe... but let me ask you a question.. what's the point in belittling other people's beliefs? if what other's believe won't change your mind about what you believe, how does it hurt you that others believe? You seem like a very angry person, and i "pray" you find some peace some day...

oh... and FYI, I'm not at all religious... but I've found peace enough in me to respect the views and values of others... i hope you do too some day...

The point of praying is not only to ask for things. That is only one half of it. The point of praying is to communicate. You don't stop talking to your Friends because they know who you feel. I believe we can 'change' Gods mind. Is love imaginary you cant see that!!!

There is a good reason to prayer.even though the lord has set up our path before we got here,he want you to know and understand that he do exist and that he does love his children. He also do things to get our attention so that we can talk to him and know that he is listening.YOU might not get answered when you need it ,but he knows best, and it will come late.he's always on time. trials and tribulations is to growth and get wisdom. the lord is not imaginary he is real and only he knows when you will someday meet up with him. THE BIBLE STORIES CAN ENLIGHTEN YOU!

I have always believed that God used the prayers of believers to perfect His will. I remember one night, as I was driving to the highway, I thought about this girl who was suicidal. I prayed for her until I got to the store, and then I forgot about it. When I was driving back home, I thought about her again, and prayed for her again.
During the night that night, I woke up, and she came to my mind again. I prayed for a long time, got really sleepy, and went back to sleep again.
The next day, I heard that she had tried to kill herself duing the night, and that she was not successful. Do I think that I saved her by praying? Of course not!! But I had a part in it...and I think that God's reason for including me was that it changed me...not so much her.
Your prayers ARE important, and maybe God can't perfect His will because your prayers aren't happening! It says in the book of Revelation that God keeps the prayers of saints up in heaven, as golden bowls of incense.

He DOESN'T always grant things only according to "His will" in the sense that I'm sure you mean.

He has two forms of His WILL. One is immutable; it can't be changed. But He also has a permissive will whereby He gives people what they want .....even to the point of their dismay.

BUT if a person asks according to what they know (from their relationship with God) is "good", then they will rejoice in what they get and not wish they hadn't asked.

I used to feel similarly but last weekend the Lord showed me that there was more to pray about than just our needs which He fulfils cause He loves Us but if you have gotten tierd of praying the same way it's time to renew your prayer and start praying less for yourself and MORE for other people and wahtching them as you pray and fulfil te needs of their hearts that's what Jesus did just read my source and you will find that Jesus prayed a cuple of verses for himself and many more for his people, his brothers, disciples.

If I did not truly love and care about Him I might as well pray to a cucumber.

your lack of answers reflects your own cynicism, prayer is to be in constant communication w/ the Lord, kinda like calling your earthly father and telling him you love him. Besides the Bible says ask and you shall receive. Prayers do get answered sometimes the answer is just no. People don't like to hear that though so it is easier to say it does nothing
