I'm an environmentalist and I think wood is just fine.

Most of it comes from tree farms these days. Much of it is "manufactured wood" from recycling stuff.

It beats the heck out of plastic made from oil and energy.

This question is like Fox News propaganda. I am from northern California the most liberal part of the country. Most environmentalist don't oppose logging. They oppose clear cutting, cutting old growth redwoods, not cleaning up the forest after it is cut, don't cut on waterways for the fish. Which in my opinion are all sensable demands. In which for the most part are the laws and wouldn't be if it were not for environmentalist. But hay I may be an environmentalist wacko.

You're kidding, right? These same people who oppose lumber companies have houses furnished with hardwood and leather furniture. In the same way, they bash the oil companies but drive gas-guzzling SUVs (with the exception of the Hollywood and New York elite, who get chauffeured around in even more gas-guzzling limousines).

Good question!

I honestly believe that hard-core environmentalists shouldn't reproduce - talk about making a MAJOR environmental impact!

I think they're big on wicker, bamboo, and hemp fiber.

They might also own a lot of secondhand stuff that maybe got refinished, to avoid driving the market to cut down more trees anew.
