Does anyone know how long the waiting list is to get a canadian passport?? I know there was more applicants than usual this year and last year because they changed the laws regarding going to the states without a passport. How long is the waiting period?

The official word is normally it is 20 working days, and there is currently a 25 extra working day delay. I haven't heard if they have been making it in that time or not. I hope so, I send mine in 6 working days ago.

Keep checking their web for details. (Three weeks ago it said something different.)

Are you getting a new Passport for the 1st time or renewing?Depending on where you are it could be different but, the wait time in line at the Passport Office is approx 6-8hrs here in Ottawa. After submitting I have heard up to 6- 8wks. Also if you mail it in make sure everything is perfect(remeber stay within the white box for your signature, don't smile in your picture) because if it gets sent back to ya that is another hassle and added time

Can't speak for Canada, but right now in the U.S. the wait period has gone up from 2-4 weeks to 4-6 weeks in anticipation of the new passport laws. The U.S. State Department says the wait time is bound to get longer as the year goes on because anyone wanting to drive from my great country to your great country MUST have a valid passport by December 31st.
