It depends.

Are you a high school graduate?
Have you taken the ASVAB?
Do you meet height / weight standards?
Do you have any outstanding legal issues?
Do you have any medical issues?

IF...
- you are a high school graduate,
- have already taken the ASVAB,
- meet the weight requirement (ie, are not over- or underweight for your height and age),
- have no outstanding legal issues (to include traffic tickets),
- have no medical issues (never been diagnosed with ADD, asthma, or had any injuries or issues that might require a waiver), and you
- have copies of all the required documents (social security card, marriage certificate if you're married, high school diploma, etc.),

THEN you are able to go to MEPS as soon as your recruiter is able to put together your "packet" (folder with all your pertinent information). How quick that happens depends on your recruiter getting back all your police checks and such. On average, it only takes a day or two.

THEN at MEPS you get your physical and pick your job, do your contract. If there is nothing unforseen coming up at MEPS that requires a consult or waiver, you're good to go.

At very best, if everything is in order, you can be processed and ready to ship for basic training within a week to 10 days.

It can be rather quick if there is an open slot. The air force I understand has a waiting list. First thing you need to do is take the ASVAB, that will tell you which branch you can go into. Many do not qualify for the Navy or Air force. Then its a matter of passing the physical and raising your right hand, swearing an oath and then you are on your way. But again its all in the timing. Oh and you better have a high school diploma.

alot would depend on what branch of the service you have an interest in.
If you chose the army, they will coordinate your departure with the next class of the MOS that you pick.
SO if you pick an MOS that is not that long in duration, there is a better likelihood that the classes will come up more often.
go to the library and pick up a book on the military test. Take the practive ASVAB so that you can score as high as you can on the real test that way you have more options to pick from when it comes time to pick out your AIT schooling.
ANywhoo, to answer your question, my guess would be 3 weeks from recruiter visit to departure
GOOD LUCK TO YA

It took me 9 months in the Navy. If your goal is to get in as quick as poss-able tell the recruiter and the detail-er and they will pick a job for you that no one wants and you could be in a few weeks. If your destitute you might consider the JOB CORE they will give you shelter food and training ASAP

I was in the army and if you have taken the asvab already you could be gone in like a week if a job slot is open for the mos you choose. If you haven't taken the asvab, then it may take a while longer because you have to get your scores to see what mos's you qualify for. so it could be anywhere from a week to a month or so.

All depends on if you are a high school grad or not. If a grad only a few days to see if you are qualified. Still in high school can get qualified and get set up to dep in the military and leave after you graduate.

best bet, is go on www.goarmy.com and completely fill out the information packet... it will give the recruiter a headstart.

I've put people in the Army within two days of meeting them, and they shipped out eleven working days later after their National Agency Check cleared.

If you are that anxious to be in the military, and they have basic training available right away, you can be in the military within a month, sometimes less.

This totally depends on you. If you go in today and tell them you want to ship tomorrow, you will. Provided of course, you do not need any waivers. If you need waivers it may take a while. Bug them every single day and you will go as soon or as late as you want to.
