It may.. If they do it right.. The way it sounds is that this surge will be mainly to help further secure the Iraqis to help speed up the process for withdrawal. I think the only thing that will truely help the situation is for the Iraqis to take over control themselves and withdraw the troops. Since they are not quite ready to do so yet, I think the troop surge is a good idea. Hopefully they can get their sh@@ together and we can get out. As long as the U.S. stays and continues to be an occupying force, I only see the situation getting worse there. So I think it will help but it will still LOOK like it's not..

It gives us more troops on the ground which allows us to hold more territory, but for the most part these soldiers are being sent to Bahdad and holding onto troubled neighborhoods. It might help or it might not, i guess time will tell. What I do know is that the army has had frequent deployments already and it puts more stress on combat forces that have had multiple deployments already. We are running out of troops to rotate in and out which is leading to more and more deployments of the same forces.

No, that would be like 6 guys in a barroom brawl against the rest of the 120 bar patrons and then you send one guy off the street to help out those 6 guys. It makes no sense at all.

It looks like an exit plan to me. Looks like they are trying to inflict as much damage on the terrorist infrastructure as they can before they leave and the surge they are talking about is part of just about every retreat. It takes a village to raise a child but it takes a full platoon to level it.
