I've been told that when it's "the one", you'll know. I've now went to three bridal shops, tried on upteen many dresses, and so far I've only narrowed it down to a designer. I still feel like there's something missing, like it's not quite right. Has anyone else went through this? All of my friend's found theirs right away.

It's not that I'm stuck on a designer for the name itself. It's the quality of the dresses and the way they fit so perfectly. Nothing else compared. The problem is, I can't find the combination I want. I thought I had but I didn't get the reaction I wanted from my mother and bridesmaids.

It doesnt matter how your bridesmaids and mom react, its how you feel.
When I put my dress on I knew it something just came over me, but when I walked out of the dressing room my mom and sister who were there with me both said no. Then I looked at myself and started crying and they both turned and said "well we were wrong, this is the dress"
Go back and put that dress back on and pay attention to how YOU feel. I bet that was your dress.

I went through many bridal magazines and teared out pages of ones I like the look of.
Then I went to Davids Bridal shop and showed the lady the ones I liked and told her the ideas I had for the whole look and feel of the wedding.
She brought me out the under garments to try on and then I tried on probably 15some dresses until finally I walked out and looked in the mirror and saw that it was "the one"
You'll know it when you see it. I was starting to worry that I was being too picky and that I'd never find it. But soon as I put it on, I knew right away.
But be open to try all kinds of designers and let the people at the shops help you pick out dresses.
I remember I'd said that I didn't like the strapless look, but a few of the ones she brought me were strapless and actually looked pretty nice, but they just didn't have the right feel.

I was going to have my dress made, and looked at the magazines for ideas. I went to a close out sale where the bridal shop was getting rid of last years designs to make room for the new inventory. I went to get ideas. The second dress I tried on was "the one". Don't narrow it down to a single designer. If you do you are limiting the choices. Don't compare yourself to your friends. It is not a contest. Don't worry you will find it.

I went through the same thing. I went to the bridal shoptwo days in a row. It was not until I tried my third dress on the second day that I had found the dress. Lots of people have to try on more than one dress and got to plenty of shops until they find something that they are comfortable with.
Do not give up. Just keep looking and you will find it.

Mine was the third one I tried on. If I were you, I wouldn't narrow it down to a DESIGNER, because that REALLY limits your possibilities. Think in your mind about what your dream dress will look like, and then when you go to the bridal shop, describe it to them. Have them bring you in ones that look like that. Don't even look at designer names or price tags. Your absolute perfect dress might turn out to be some totally unknown designer, and cost you about 1/2 of what you would have paid for a less perfect dress from your "chosen" designer.

I went to 2 bridal shops before the final one. Once I made it to the 2nd shop, I tried on 2 dresses and the 2nd dress was "The One". Then I immediately searched for a reception gown to get the same "AWWW" feeling. You'll find it.

I think there are several dresses out there that could be "the one" I love the dress i ended up getting, perfect for me really, but i know if I would've kept looking i probably would've found one I liked just as much or better. I think when girls find the "one" they find one that's just perfect for them. Doesn't mean there aren't more out there.
don't despair if you havn't found yours yet. If the designer has a website look through those dresses and find some styles you like then go in and tell the shop the style number and see if they have them. (or call b4 you go better yet to see if they have them) That's what i did to find mine.

I actually have two dresses. The first dress I bought only because it was $50.00. I figured that I wouldn't be able to find a discount like that again, but the dress didn't make me go "Oh, wow."
A few months later, my bridesmaids convinced me to go try on a couple dresses, and I found one that I fell in love with. It was a bit pricey, but I found the same dress in the same size, on Ebay at a third of the original price.
It does happen. My best suggestion is to try on dresses that look even "okay" because you might be surprised how they transform on your body. The dress that I found wasn't my favorite in the magazine, but when I tried it on, I was breathless. It was perfect.

I went to David's bridal and already kinda knew what i wanted because i saw it online. So they pulled it and like 20 other dresses that i liked and i tried on the one i saw online first. That's the ONLY dress i tried on. I knew it was the one. So it took about 30 mins but i was in the store wearing it for like 2 hrs. lol

Don't rely on your mother and brides maids to give you the final ok on something that is important to you. I actually of all places found my wedding dress on ebay. My wedding was in June, and I started looking at different stores and things in Sept.. I couldn't find anything I liked at all... I tried on so many dresses.. well, I put in wedding dresses one night on ebay, and on like the 5th page, I fell in love with this dress... it had the measurements and everything in the description, so I didn't have to go just by size, and wanted it desperately... there was so many people that tried to talk to out of it.. but I went with what I wanted, and thats what I got, and I couldn't imagine my wedding day any other way.. the dress was perfect, and just beautiful... good luck to you.

Forever! the first dress I tried on was "the one", but the price was way, way, way too high. So I spent forever trying to find a dress just like it. I actually ended up hating bridal dresses and wished I spent a lot less than I did on it.
