A good question. I doubt that there has ever been any contest where people on both sides didn't pray that their side came out on top. Neither has there been a series of contests (save for a few undefeated sports seasons) where each side didn't see some victories.

About the only thing that people can agree to pray only for one side is to stop acts of god. In these cases, god seems to be saying that prayers can't counter his whims. Sorry New Orleans.

No. There is God's perfect will and his permissive will. He has given each of us choice. Without choice there is only his perfect will, what he wants for us but because we have choice, we have the option to do what we want or permissive will. Some would say there is victory in death because we are to strive to be Christlike--without sin and as long as we are in earthly bodies (due to sin, the apple in the garden) we are not perfect. I believe that God does answer all prayers, just not always with the answers we want or on our time table.

The Christian answer to any kind of logic or rational thought is that "It's God's will" or "God works in mysterious ways." These are the TRUE Christian Miracles as they will allow you to believe in anything, no matter how retarded.
