well depends on where you go, If you get the brand name, it will cost around 30 dollars, But it can be filled generically and would be much cheaper. Try like wal- mart or some place like that,

Xanax and Ativan are both in the same drug class (benzodiazepines) which NORMALLY exert the same effect and work the same way but there are always little variations that may or may not be harmful. That being said... Absolutely not. Under no circumstances should you take a prescription that has not been prescribed to you. It can either agonize or antagonize a medication you may already be taking, exert an allergic reaction on your part, make an existing medical condition worse, etc. I could on and on about why you shouldn't but ultimately it boils down to it not being safe for you. Call your doctor first to make sure it's ok. If they say no, then call the pharmacy or go down there. It's best to err on the side of caution. It just might save your life.

Call several pharmacies in your area. There will be a large variance in costs. Ask for generic when you call. Also call Biovail Pharmaceuticals, Inc. at 1-866-246-8245 .... they manufacture Ativan and may have a program for supplying it to people with no insurance.

All drug prices are on their way up right now. However, I will tell you that Ativan and it's generic, Lorazepam, are chemically the same **exact** drug. Lorazepam is the drug, and Ativan is just the special name put to it. The ingredients are the same amount, of the same thing. Any reaction she thinks she had to the generic is simply in her head.
