They are great dogs. I have one that is a therapy dog and he is just over a year old. They are smart, laid back, and sweet dogs. The only downside is that they do shed pretty bad, but it vacuums up easily. They should not drool, and mine never does.

These dogs are great. However, they are a working breed. They were known as "The poor man's horse" because they pulled carts.

One who has this breed needs to give them a job rollerblading, or run the dog on a bike, have it carry a backpack...something like that.

This breed is also very protective and family oriented. They need to be with people.

I am a professional dog trainer,

If you want more info on this breed let me know!

Wonderful dogs and great working dogs. But - they are somewhat more subject to serious health problems such as cancer than other breeds and tend to have a shorter than average life span.

just to let you know..they are great dogs but have a lot of issues with certain cancers that present in the earlier part of their life. Most common being systemic cutaneous histiocytosis.

I love all dogs, but I have to say the Bernese Mountain dog is one of my very favorites. So lovable, fluffy, & BIG!

I had one when I was a kid. She was a very affectionate, sweet, patient dog (good with kids and cats). She was; huge, though, very strong, and tough to walk because she insisted on pulling constantly - actually pulled me off my feet more than once.

Very smart, you need to be hands on, loving, sweet. Good dogs, good family dogs. But make sure to train well.

All of the above and they have a great sense of humor. If you laugh at them they just keep acting silly. I love their smile!
