You can create a new partition and install windows to that, then you'll have a duel boot system, or why not just back up your docs to cd then re load them after the fresh install.

You can do what you are asking.

Just put the XP disk in the CD drive and reboot the pc.

When it asks if you want to do a "repair" installation or a new installation select the "repair" option.

If you select the "new" installation it will format your hard drive and you will lose everything on it.

I do recommend that you back up all your doc's though. It makes sense to have them on a permanent record instead of depending on a hard drive. A hard drive can fail at any time....

Hope this helps.

When you put the Xp Cd in there should be an option to restore without then having to lose your documents. failing that you are best to save everything to a disc or Cd!

Couldn't you partition the hard drive, save your documents onto it and then reinstall Windows. I think that way, it will install on C drive whereas you could save your documents on say, G or whatever you label the partition
