I personally use DVD43 and 1ClickDVDCopy5 to rip and burn my movies that I get from Netflix into my library.
DVD43 will install and after a restart of your machine, will sit in your system tray and remove protection on your DVDs "on the fly", while you burn them.

You can actually use other programs other than 1ClickDVDCopy5 to burn your movies, but I use it because it's the most recommended program for burning along with DVD43.
It's a very small and neat looking program (shaped like a CD on your screen).

As you burn movies, DVD43 removes the protection while you do. So, when you pop in a DVD, just start 1Click, burn to DVD, and it should be done within 20-25 minutes; sometimes less, sometimes a little longer (but not by much).

The site to DVD43 is below, as it is a free program.
The makers of 1Click will ask to be paid for their program. You will have to get it from the below site, torrentspy, pay for it, or find another program that you can burn for free.
Hopefully it will be compatible with the DVD43.
Just read the DVD43 site to find out what's compatible for it that you want to use.

I use DVDshrink to copy them to the hard drive and Nero to burn them. That's only because DVDshrink integrates with Nero so after it is done archiving and copying I can just click "Burn using Nero" and I'm done. DVDshrink is freeware, Nero is not but if you keep an eye on sale, you can pick up Nero for $30 or less... but you have to keep an eye on those sales. I've never seen it for that price since and that's been over three months ago. You can however, get a free trial of Nero for 30 days before you can no longer use it, that will work too... albeit for a month.

Clone DVD - DVD Copy Software supports all popular DVD-5/DVD-9 discs and multiple copy modes: copy the whole movie, copy main movie only with extras and special features omitted, personalize your DVDs only favorite title/chapter/subtitle/audio remained, you even can custom the target DVD video size to fit your disc.

http://www.limewire.com/ is the most used free file sharing site. make sure you have anti virus running before swapping any files. the free edition of avg available from http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ does a good job. once you have installed limewire do a search for limewire pro. then install this and delete the original. pro is faster.
OR
For torrents use.http://www.torrentpond.com/ which will let you search the 15 top torrent sites for what you are looking for. You will then need http://ct.download.com/clicks?t=25677882-6263d01b2c5633450d9d64a6ee1da809-bf&s=5&fs=0
to download the files.
then burn with roxio or nero

There is no free ware that i am aware of. Your burner should have come with burning software. However, there is copyright laws that will not alow you to decrypt it free. Good luck
