This was explained in Church but I still do not understand the scripture. I need some help with this scripture. When I read the scripture I got a different meaning than what was explained in Church.

Other wise what was explained in Church was that the congreation is suppose to do more in the Church. That God makes our nests prickly so that we can step into a ministry in this Church. But, I didn't get that from this scriputure. I maybe wrong. I don't know need help Please.

First look at Context:
Deut 31:30 "Then Moses spoke in the hearing of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were complete."
This is after Joshua is commissioned to continue the journey to the promised land and prior to his death in Deut 34.

Moses song is preparing them to go into the promised land.

The analogy of the eagle is in reflection to how eagles' encourage their young to venture out:

The eagle keeps its younger ones under its control in its nest for many days just because it knows that its younger ones do not know how to find their prey. The mother eagle trains the younger one to find its food by itself and to keep itself away from dangers. Before that the mother eagle loosens its nest and sits at a far off place and watches as the younger ones feel left alone. And the little ones begin to stumble in their nest and find their food and become restless. As an eaglet slips out of the nest, it begins to flap its wings trying to fly. The mother eagle would be keenly watching it. When the young one is unable to fly and is falling, the mother eagle soars down and holds the eaglet on its wings and takes it back to its resting place. This is how it trains its young ones to fly.

Following the analogy then this is an encouragement for those that will be venturing into the promised land...
God will be watching them.
God will be protecting them.
God will carry them Himself.

If the young were in the nest any longer... they would never learn the beautiful lessons to learn into attempting to take flight...

The next verse, Deut 32:12 The LORD alone guided them... continues the flow of God being with them.

Deuteronomy 32 Meaning

Consider the love Jehovah showed in dealing with the Israelites. Moses used a beautiful analogy to describe Jehovah’s love for the young nation of Israel. We read: “Just as an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its fledglings, spreads out its wings, takes them, carries them on its pinions, Jehovah alone kept leading [Jacob].” (Deuteronomy 32:9, 11, 12) To teach her young to fly, the mother eagle ‘stirs up her nest,’ fluttering and flapping her wings to urge her young ones to take off. When a young bird finally dives out of the nest, which is often lodged on a high crag, the mother “hovers over” the young. If it seems that the fledgling might hit the ground, the mother swoops down under it, carrying it ‘on her pinions.’ Lovingly, Jehovah cared for the newborn nation of Israel in a similar way. He gave the people the Mosaic Law. (Psalm 78:5-7) God then watched over the nation with a keen eye, ready to come to the rescue when his people were in trouble.

It's showing how God protects those who loyally serve him. It's actually a rather comforting scripture.

How it says:"Just as an eagle stirs up its nest,
Hovers over its fledglings,
Spreads out its wings, takes them,
Carries them on its pinions,"

Watch an eagle (or other bird closer to home) take care of their young when times get rough. Or just on a day to day basis. That's how our loving God is. He cares for his sheep.

I hope this helped you some.

For the people of Israel belong to the Lord;
Jacob is his special possession.
"He found them in a desert land,
in an empty, howling wasteland.
He surrounded them and watched over them;
he guarded them as his most precious possession.
_____________________________
Like an eagle that rouses her chicks
and hovers over her young,
so he spread his wings to take them in
and carried them aloft on his pinions.
------------------------------------------------

The Lord alone guided them;
they lived without any foreign gods.
He made them ride over the highlands;
he let them feast on the crops of the fields.
He nourished them with honey from the cliffs,
with olive oil from the hard rock.

Sounds to me that God is doing all the work here, caring for His 'fledgelings'. The only thing God does is rouse them, wakes them up. They are fed grain, honey, and oil; obviously symbolic, since an eagle eats flesh. Ask someone else about the typology, this is always debatable.

No, you are not wrong. Just means that God cares for and teaches us how to be the best we can be. Do some research on the parenting of eagles.
