Hi , when I buy new or used always offer at least 20% less than there asking, because you can't go down with your original offer and they will always comeback with a counter offer. Hold your ground and get it no hurry sometimes it's best to walk away. If they are wanting to sell the car they will be contacting you. Because they will make sure they get your name and number. I personally like to use Edmunds.com for real pricing. I have been buying new and used cars since the 1970's. I know they really try to take advantage of women.

These are all great answers and so much to think about. There are many things to think about, insurance, gas, am i getting this to look good or to be smart and get the best value. Don’t get me wrong everyone wants to look good and cool in the ride, but! Gas prices are only going to go up. How old are you? Insurance is a major factor, get the info on this car and go to your insurance broker find out what the cost per year is. Monthly payments! How high are they, will I be able to go out for me once in a while, purchase cloths, movies, restaurants. Put all the costs together, then see what you will have for yourself. Can I get by with a cheaper car that may not be that expensive and have more fun. Never buy a car that will put you in the poor house in a year or a few months, never buy a car that won’t allow you to go traveling on vacations or party or what ever your into. Never ever buy a car that you think will make you look good but cant put a nice stereo in. Be smart, you can always get buy a car that is cheaper runs good, better on gas, and won’t cause you to get a loan if it breaks down. Mercedes are very expensive to fix. Be prepared to rack your credit card up if you have problems.
Its not the car or truck that makes the person, its you. Also a true friend wont judge you on your ride but the beautiful person you are.

There are a lot of things to consider, for one thing, where you live can determine the value of a used car because if it is a popular model, supply and demand helps set price. I suggest you look at Edmunds.com to help determine a fair price. Also take into consideration that the dealer will have spent some money on detailing, inspection, changing the fluids and repairing anything that didn't pass inspection. $26,500 in general sounds like a lot of money to spend for a used car. How old is it?

I would suggest you go to Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com). There you can enter the car's information and determine what the recommended dealer price, private party price and trade in values are. Take the information from the web site and negotiate the price you pay at the dealer. The dealer should be willing to negotiate. However, to answer you question directly, there is likely no way to know what the dealer paid for the used car and, as such, it would be very hard to state a set price to pay. Use the research information and your best judgment.

I trust two websites for comparative pricing for a new or used car.
The Kelly Blue Book site and the Edmunds site are both excellent - links below.

If you're talking about a 2007 new (untitled) car, you can get very little off of it especially if it's a hot selling car.
Your best bet for discounts is a used car. You can start bargaining at 10% OFF the asking price. If they don't budge for you, go somewhere else.
They need YOU, not the other way around.

2 year old benz should cost about 60% of its original price. Get another 10% for questionable past.

I would start my offer at about 19,000. it is also according to how bad you think you want the car, among other things.
