I really need to lose weight. I want to start exercising but refuse to work out in the freezing cold winter weather here in Ohio or do those stupid at-home exercise tapes. I want to join some type of place for fitness. I'm not really into classes and I HATE working out in front of people...I am embarrassed. All I want is a treadmill, eliptical, bike, etc. for aerobic workout. Which place would be better? Which is cheaper? Thanks!

ok first of all if you hate working out in front of people, then a gym is not for you. But I was that way and I finally gave in and joined the YMCA. I pay 36 dollars a month and honestly that's not bad. For me I love taking classes and there are a lot of them that are free. Also when signing up you get 12 sessions with a personal trainer. Also there are many other great things about the YMCA. Do a visit on different gyms. Visit them and compare them I know the YMCA gives out a week free and maybe other gyms do to. See which one is more of your liking and go for them.
Good luck on your weight lose journey!

YMCA is probably cheaper. Call around and ask.
You might want to buy equipment to use at home. Lots of people buy stuff they never use, so they'll sell it to you cheap.
