What would you accept as evidence for God's existence?

Reasoned arguments?
Personal experience?
Miracles?
Seeing angels? Etc.

Any type of personal experience or revelation. There is no reasoned argument for religion. That's a contradiction. Religion is a thing of belief and faith....not reason.

Kierkegaard......nothing worth teaching can be taught.

Reasoned arguments, but until now I haven't heard any that convinced me of God's existance and I can't imagine there are any. Seeing angels would definitely not convince me of anything, I'd be sure to have hallucinations and see a doctor. In case of "miracles" I'd be sure that there is a reasonable explanation for it and I'd investigate to find it, that I have hallucinations or someone plays a trick. About personal experience I can say just the same like about the angels and miracles.

Really, there is a simple answer to your question, that will apply to everyone. If there were an omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing) god, then he would automatically know exactly what proof would be required to satisfy each and every non-believer on an individual basis, and he would have the ability to instantly produce that proof for us at will. As it stands, there are only two reasons why this hasn't happened yet.

1. He chooses to withhold definitive proof of his existance.

2. He doesn't exist.

Now, it's just a question of which is reason is most plausible, which one requires the least amount of assumptions to justify. Which is the simplest explanation? I would have to say reason 2.

You're comparing materialists to atheists? Right there I don't even want to read the rest of your question. But after I did, the only way I would accept evidence of god is to look him in the eye myself.

LOL

Personal experience? Like what? You experience an angel - well the yorkshire ripper heard the voice of jesus telling him to kill woman - would you accept that as proof?

Reasoned arguments? I've never met a theist who was capable of them.

I think I'd have to see something - just one thing that pointed to the fact that the Universe was created. Just one tiny thing. Anything.

Otherwise forget it.

reasoned arguments are just arguments
person experience (or lack there of) is part of the reason of why im atheist
what kind of miracles and is there a rational explination behind them?
and if i saw angels i would think i might have to cut back on something

I believe you experience that God as Christians, but you have to realize, that is only one side of God. I accept that as evidence for your faith, but not that your God is the only way to see God, or the only right way.

How about anything that would suggest existence? I have yet to see any logical argument or tangible event that would suggest god's existence. To simply believe for believing's sake is foolish. This is why I also do not believe a jolly fat man scoots down my chimney every Christmas.

seeing god standing right before me would be a huge start anyway it's all unknowable as to what's the corerect ay to see this god as you christians feel that you are the only religion that has the true god and many others feel the same way so everybody has a different view of this god
