You need to do what is right for you. Is it you who is attached to it or her??? My son's Dr. asked me that question and I realized that it was me that wasn't ready to let go. He was 30 months. We..he and I..decided it was time and just tossed them in the trash and that was it. We had a few weepy naps, but he didn't really miss it. His teeth are also just fine now and he is 10. Good Luck!

Yes, just out of personal opinion. I know many people drop the pacifier at the same time as the bottle, but I waited. I thought (and so do a lot of other people) that by age 2 was good. I started cutting back on it when I realized my daughter was demanding it only at home and it the car, but not really sucking on it so much anymore, rather chewing on it instead. I started out with no more pacifier in the car, then to having it only at naptime and bedtime, then to nothing at all. She was off it exactly one week before her 2nd birthday. I could tell it was time more-so from her own cues than anything. It turned out to be a lot easier than I expected, so I was very lucky, and grateful, too!

my daughter was 3 years old when we completely did away with her binky.

Started doing exactly what your doing with bedtime and nap time only. gradually my husband started throwing the extra binkies in the trash.

On my daughters 3rd birthday we had a ceremony and made a big deal about her being a big girl and how that binkies were for babies (which we indoctrinated her with for months before). The ceremony ended with my daughter throwing the last binky in the trash herself.

She never asked for it again.

Your daughter too old maybe maybe not? but it sounds like you're on the right track.

Yes. Small babies need a pacifier to help satiate their need to suck. In toddlers the "binky" just becomes a habit. It's time to send the binky off to the "binky fairy" who can bring her a reward for giving it up, like a teddy to hug at bed time instead.

yes she is way too old my nephew is bout to turn 1 this month and he is still using a pacifier i dont think my sister should still be allowing him 2 use it because he already had alot of teeth and if he keeps sucking on dat pacifier then it may ruin his teeth so yes i do think she is way to old for a binky

yes, 2 is too old for a binky. even if she is only having at night it could still be damaging her teeth. the longer you wait to take it away the harder it will be. just go cold turkey, it will be a very hard first week but she will forget about it soon.

She is too old if she has her teeth and at 27 months, she should have the majority of them. I say get rid of the binky - you wouldn't want to cause problems with her teeth (like protruding of the top teeth).

I know it is a hard thing to break a child from but the longer you wait the harder it will become to get it away from her. One of the biggest reason's is that she is damaging her teeth & will end up with protruding teeth (buck tooth). I have seen kids as old a 4 & 5 in stores with them in their mouths & I wonder what on earth is wrong with the parent letting them keep something in their mouth at that age.

Those things are like cancer. I wouldnt ever even dream of starting that endless cycle with my son.

Just take it away. I'd say any time after the new born phase is far too old for a pacifier.
