ABSOLUTELY! "Do unto others as you would have done unto you," and conversely, "Don't do unto others as you would NOT have done to you." That is all you need in life to be a very good person. Too bad too many people forget all about this simple way of life. The more people wander off into religion and "teachings," the farther they get from being a good person. Simple as that.

Yes there is a universal objective morality. How do we get the idea of what immorality is? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line.

1. The moral law is undeniable.
2. We know it by our reactions.
3. It is the basis of human rights.
4. It is the unchanging standard of justice.
5. It defines a real difference between moreal positions (e.g., Mother Teresa vs. Hitler)
6. Since we know what's absolutely wrong there must be an absolute standard of rightness.
7. The moral law is the grounds for political and social dissent.
8. If there were no moral law then we would make excuses for violating it.

So the moral law definitely exists. Murder is just as wrong here as it is in Englad. It's just as wrong now as it was 100 years ago.

The Irreverand: would you accept the morality of rape or theft if someone wanted to do those things to you?

I have done a lot of research and thought about this. I researched and compared and boiled down all that I saw.

I came up with Love, Truth, Harmony, and Unity.

That is the basis for all moral code.

Love as much as you are able, tell the Truth as much as you are able, be Harmonious as much as you are able, and keep in mind the interdependence and Unity of all things.

Its becoming more and more established that morality is biologically based, so in that regard I would say there are objective standards we all adhere to.

Its only when people violate these standards for the "higher good" that conflict arises.

There is clearly a biological morality ingrained in each of us. However, it does seem to evolve over time.

There is absolute right and wrong. Those things that God has said are wrong are wrong. There are people that have convinced themselves that pedophilia is right, and fight legislation against it. You tell me, if that can be right then how can anything at all be wrong?
