You can buy the stuff at the drug store, which is shampoo.
then wash your hair with it. then after the eggs hatch you have to use the shampoo again 2 days later to get rid of the newlly hatched ones. Also you use the tiny comb to mechanically remove all the eggs from your hair. it's very hard and takes a long time.

you can use alternative methods like mayonnaise or olive oil.
saturate the hair with it overnight. wash in the morning. then do it every night for 3 nights or so. they can't breathe. they die.
still a good idea to get all the eggs off the hair, which is very labor intensive.

while you are dealing with the hair, you need to spray all the furniture in your house with the spray, wash all the linens every day, wash all soft toys in hot water etc. keep doing all this until the lice are gone. sometimes it takes awhile and it is a lot of work.

experience with this problem.

My mom is a preschool teacher and runs into this problem quite often. The solution--saturate your hair in olive oil over night or for several hours, this kills the live bugs and the eggs, but you may still want to repeat in about 1 week. Also, be sure and wash everything possible in HOT water, whatever can't be washed can be sprayed with lysol (works good but cheaper than lice spray). Also, one more tip... if you wash your hair regularly with a shampoo containing any kind of mint, you will never have lice.... according to the school nurse.

There is a product you can buy its about 20$ its called a "robe comb" or something to that effect. This is combed through your hair and kills the live lice and even get some eggs in the comb. Next you need to buy a "Nit Shampoo" the eggs are called nits this will kill the eggs but not all. The best thing to do is separate you hair in section go through it and slide each egg out one at a time on your hair shaft and put it on a wet paper towel. when on the paper towel squish them you will hear it pop. Bag all your bedding so you dont get reinfessted. Also you should leave a shower cam on your hair and i know this sounds so gross but even my doctor had my sis do it, put mayo in your hair with a shower cap and let it sit for a couple hours. What this does is suffocate any live lice and make your hair shafts greasy so they cant climb it and their eggs wont stick to your hair shafts. Well i hope in some way this helped and sorry this happened to you it sucks.

Usually there are products on the market for this, such as RID, and that should kill the adults, but you should buy a small tooth comb, and in the grocery store right next to the shampoos there are some combs. Make sure to take small sections of hair and run the comb through from the scalp past the ends. repeat as many times as necessary, and remember to clean the comb off
so you won't run it back through with the eggs still on it.

lol...I had lice a few times in grade school. It was the same old ritual. Go to the store get some RID, furniture spray and color safe bleach for all clothing, blankets. Quariteen the house, and spray/wash everything. Wash hair with RID (read directions) then spend hours in the back yard with mom combing and picking out the dead lice eggs in hair(which is important)..lol eww. Brings me back lol

It is not recommended by any doctor, but something that will work the first time every time is Flea and Tick shampoo for your dog. Just lather it up real well on your head or who ever is having the problem and work it in well. Let it sit in your hair for a minute or two then rinse well. You will still need to get the nit comb to get all the nits out, but even they will have died during the shampooing. I have used this on my kids since they started school and we began having this problem. It does work!

1. buy lice shampoo
2. wash your hair with it as directed
3. most shampoos for lice comes with a little comb
4. if yours does have a comb get a cup of hot water and run the comb through your hair (the teeth on the comb are so close they remove almost anything in your hair) constantly rinse the comb out in the water and if you do it long enough youll get it all out.

ps. put mayonaise in your hair and let it sit for 10 minutes ( it suffocates the bugs) then rinse it out and wash your hair with regular shampoo hope i helped! good luck!

I had lice once; this is how I got "rid" of them: I set my head on fire and due to the heat and smoke the lice tried to jump out of my hair. Before they jumped I was able to stab all of them with an ice pick. Try RID it's less painful. You can get it the drug store.

Mayonaise!!! Seriously it is the only thing I have found that works. Saturate the hair with mayo and put on a shower cap overnight. Wash out and use a nit comb the next day...problem solved.

I have a daughter with long thick hair who kept getting them from school a couple of years ago. We tried everything and mayo was the answer. Plus it nice on your hair.
