First you must define what smart is. The traditional smart is book smart. However, other people believe that there are 7 types of smart. Maybe more. Here is a short list.
1)School smart. able to ace any test with little effort.
2)music: Knows or understand music
3)Sport: think Michael Jordan or tiger woods. Geniuses in their field.
4)Street: How many school smart people have fallen pray to simple street schemes. Also, some people understand and survive quite well, on the harsh street. This is a good skill to have.

5) Social: Some people are good at socializing and talking to others. Very god thing to have if you are a politician.

6) Business: A person may not know how to find the double integral of a trigonometric function but he/she can make $1,000 out of a $1.50.

There are a couple more. One thing to note is that we are a conbination of different degrees and types of smarts. Usually people that are at the top of oe category lack in another. This is because you can't be good at everything plus there is simply not enought time for that. So what you got to do is see where you fall. Take a pice of paper and make two columns. One for the things you are good at and one for the things you are not so god at. Take the things you are good at and see if you want to improve on those. Then also try to improve in some of the ones yu are not so god at. OH!, notice the language I use. I never said anything about the bad. I said things tat you ae not so great at. The language is important. Positive thinking leads to positive results.

Ok, once you figure out where you fall then tink where you want to go. That is, what do you want to achieve. For example, you may say to yourself, I want to learn more about music. Well, why not sign up to a music class. Perhaps take some guitarslesons. What ever works for yu. he point is that to obtain something you must work at it. Fr some people it comes easy but for te mayority of us it takes lots of work.

My belief is that everyone has a special Talent. I dont know you but just because your not "Acadamically Smart" Doesnt mean anything. Of course if you want to get better at something you must practice and have a strong interest and the Will to do it.

Albert Enstein believed that Imagination was more important then Intelligent. Does this describe you? Try Drawing. Writing Non Fiction or Fictional stories, Try a sport, Become a wiz at technology.

And even after reading my answer you think "Thanks but im not really good at anything of those things you mentioned" your solutuion is to then Practice at something that interests you. You cant Force yourself to become a Wiz at something overnight. None of us can. We have to really enjoy what were doing. Look into other instruments. You wont know until you try.

If you keep searching I believe you'll find something. Everyone has Talent. Even if its hidden. We may have to search long and hard to fully understand our strentghs and weaknesses. Im still learning day by day what Im good at and what Im not.

Moral of the story to get better at something........
you must PRACTICE at it!

Maybe you should try a new instrument. Try something you normally wouldn't think of and this may make you interested enough to keep up and learn more about it. And if you really like the guitar be persistent and keep learning. Either way you have to be strong willed to make it work.

ok, I have the same problem, but the more you think about it.. EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN TALENTS and SPECIALTIES. There has to be one thing that your good at you just don't know it. Are you good at computers? [I'm sure you think "Everyone uses a computer, who isnt good at it"] but think about it, do you enjoy cooking? Do you like to write stories?

Think about one thing you do that is different from your family members.. I know you could think of something..

AND you are smart, everyone is smart in their own ways. Some may be history smart, some may know more Math than others, but you are good at something.. Everyone is.. you just need to think positive sweetie... :)

If you want to be good at something you have to work at it. Taking lessons from a pro will help, and then lots and lots of practice. The "Overnight Sensations" you see on TV have usually been working at their craft for 5 - 10 years before they were "Discovered."

I agree that you should read. Choose books with topics that you feel strongly about and that don't seem boring to you. Then you will accustomed to reading more. Most people are not born with the intelligence that they have now. They worked at it by reading and trying new things, and it is never too late to start working at it.
