Get some potty pads from your local pet store. Many of them have a scent that is supposed to encourage them to use the pad. They can also be useful as an intermediary stage of housebreaking provided you consistently show the puppy what you want him to do and give him plenty of praise when he does it right.

If he is potty trained to go outside only then a quick P&P but right back in. You can cover him in an old sock with holes cut out for his legs, etc., if you don't have a doggie coat. that kinda dog will freeze in a very short time if you leave him out. Too cold for any dog really unless that have heat pad to lay on or are an artic breed.

Hope that helps.

It depends...

If you are trying to begin potty training, I think quick, frequent trips outside would be fine. I think it's probably too cold for playing or walking for such a little one, but the sooner you start potty training, the better. A few minutes at a time will be fine...just make sure you clean off his little paws when he comes in and keep him nice and warm inside.

You have to take your puppy outside to go to the bathroom at all times in the beginning of the process or else he/she will start to learn that its OK to go inside. I would run out there let them go and then go right back inside. Make sure you don't stay out there for any extended amount of time. If the puppy is taking too long go back in and try again once you two warm up.

Yes it is too cold for him outside! I hope he isn't living out there, cuz if so, you're not going to have a pet for long. Just standing on the ground his feet could become iced over and that would be a serious problem for him. Think people, think!

No, he can go outside no problem.
If I were you I would definitely buy him a sweater to keep him warm though. And only take him out to potty, then right back in the house. He's way to small to be out for long.
He can go out for longer periods when it's Springtime.
Just think, you can buy him a whole wardrobe of cute little jackets & sweaters!

I have a 2 year old dog and I wouldn't leave him out side for more than a few minutes.

You should have a coat for him. only long enough for him to go potty. You can give him excersize in the house. Lots of playing in the house.

YES, IT IS WAY TOO COLD TO LET AN 8 WEEK OLD PUP OUTSIDE. HE/SHE PROBABLY JUST LEFT THEIR MOM. YES, TAKE HIM/HER OUT TO DO THEIR BUSINESS, BUT BRING THEM RIGHT IN. IF IT'S REALLY FRIGID OUT TRY AND GET IT DONE AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE. IF THE DOGGIE HAS AN ACCIDENT, INVEST IN SOME WEE-WEE PADS, THEY ARE ALSO GREAT FOR TRAINING TOO.
