It is very sunny but the temperarure is in the teens and twenties. Should I put the Frontline on her anyway for going through the woods?

Usually once everything freezes they should be okay. But when the temperature is just turning from warm to cold they are looking for the warmth of your dogs blood and you ahve to be on the extremem lookout for them.

The person who claims temp has nothing to do with it is wrong.
There are a lot fewer ticks around in the winter. Where I live in PA I took my dogs out to a field/frozen pond/ woods to run around today. Their frontline lapsed a wek or 2 ago, but I'm going to put it back on them today. Even though it's only a high of 20 degrees today, the place we goi is frquented by deer and small mammals, so there is a chance they could pick up a tick- although a much smaller chance than any other time of year. Good question.

Depends on how heavily wooded your area is and what the flea/tick population is. I am in GA and we see ticks and fleas all year round- and it has been in the 20's here. When I lived in New York, we would drop to every other month- just to be safe. If you are unsure ask a local vet if they are seeing them or just apply. a $15 dose of frontline certainly beats a $500 vet bill for diagnosis/treatment of a tick disease or flea anemia. Good luck!

No matter what time of the year it is, if the weather is still nice enough to permit live ticks to be on your dog, he needs to be protected! Keep the Frontline on her year around. It's much better to be safe then sorry!

It's best to use flea and tick meds always; no matter what. Although, most likely wont have a problem in the winter. Guess it really depends on where you live as well.

Yes you should. I got bit by a tick in the middle of winter when I was a kid and got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Better safe than sorry.

Of course, she should be on Frontline 24/7 no matter what season it is or how cold it is, temperture has nothing to do with flea/tick infestation.

you do not need to be concerned about ticks when the temp is below freezing.
