Yes, I think thats what most people do. They want to see our troops home safe and sound, but they don't agree with the war and the direction the US administration is going.

I'm a veteran of Somalia. As a citizen and veteran of this country I feel I have the right to question a failed mission. No WMD's. We were lied to, plain and simple. Now we're bogged down in a dismal situation that's becoming more deadly by the second. I volunteer at a local VA hospital and I visit wounded troops on a weekly basis. It's gut-wrenching to think that we're going to have another generation of people with serious problems as we did after Vietnam. The Bush administration doesn't seem to know the difference between winning and losing. This country will never learn that you cannot defeat an ideology. It needs to end now. I have nothing but respect for anyone who wears the uniform but I cannot support a mission that was doomed to fail from it's inception.

absolutely The troops are only doing there job and I will give them whatever they need to get out of there safe and sound. The mission and it's authors are quite negligent and short sighted. The goals have fallen one by one now it's down to getting out while saving the administrations face. I don't see that goal as worth any ones life. I also don't believe that the Iraqi govt for lack of a better word is Worth it either as they are hopelessly sectarian and it is that mentality that will keep this war going on. So it is best for us to leave Iraq as there is no way to make that country viable We don't have the troops time or money to make that country work we can however still salvage Afghanistan if we use the troops in Iraq to bolster the ones In Afghanistan.

No, you should support it all the way... one of the soldiers said on the news some people support the troops but not what we are doing and thats not supporting us... the troops believe in what they do and why they are there so supporting them would also be supporting the mission

I am a sergeant serving in Iraq right now, Its very important to know there is a difference between supporting the war and supporting the troops. I hope it is not a surprise to anyone that not every soldier believes in the mission here, but we fight not for Iraq but to make sure our brothers in arms come home safe. We are very grateful for American support, even people who do not support the war, there are web sites like Any Soldier that list addresses where you can send care packages, I recomend sending packages to places outside of Bagdad, there are some FOB (forward operating bases) with very few amenities. I serve in Bagdad and our PX and shoppetes are well stocked, can't say the same for other places.
Don't believe the conservatives who think they speak for us soldiers, who say they are one and the same, they are not. though if you want to support the troops do the things I wish I could right now. hug a loved one, take a peaceful walk in nature, have a fun night on the town. There is so much we take for granted, and tell your senator to get us home, no soldier wants to die in a muslim civil war

No...that's one of the most retarded statements...
If the solders are the mission...that's what they're there for...and you don't support that mission...then how is it possible for you to support them?!
Those solders do their jobs, 24-7. They have to...It's not a choice.
If those solders didn't have their game-faces on 24-7, there would be ALOT more of solders being killed on a regular basis.
Kingrottenboy: You're either a really good liar, or a solder with a severe attitude problem, and therefore, part of the problem.
Yeah, we conservatives may not be speaking for all of you, but like you, not all of you believe in what you're doing, which is the wrong mindset to have, and it will get you killed.
If you are who you say you are, you know what you signed on for, like it or not. If you are who you say you are, then chances are you're probably one of these kids who signed up just to have the college benefits.

My brother is in the army and I support him and all the other men and women who are fighting for their country. When my brother joined the army he knew what to expect and what he had to do. My family support him and whatever he has to do. So yes as a family we support him and the mission because we would not want him to feel that he was letting his family down if he thought he was doing something that we were all against. I hope this makes sense to you!!

Nope, got to be both, otherwise it's just sympathy! IF you really want to support the troops and not the mission, wirte your congressman and get the troops a pay raise, and I don't me a 5% one either, try twice what they make! Get the money from stopping foreign aide!

I am a trooper and I absolutely agree with you on a individual level only though. I don't think from a government perspective you can. You may express that you are against the war but ultimately you would still have to fund it to make sure the troopers were being taken care of.

Those are opposite statements. Supporting the troops is more than hoping they don't die.
