Firefox should be compatable.
In windows vista, if a program you want to install is not compatable, Vista will actually tell you before you install it.
It has a database it checks for known issues with programs...
You should be ok installing it.

Go to http://www.mozilla.com and you'll get all the info you can handle on Firefox, Thunderbird etc. If it isn't I wouldn't switch over due to the fact that IE still sucks as bad as it ever did!

Yea you just have to download the windows version.
