This guy was giving me hints that he might be interested in me for months, but I was too shy to approach and he only spoke once. Then all the sudden I saw him with this other girl. He was looking for my reaction to it. Why?

His actions were childish. A reaction from you in kind would be childish too. Don't be a child and don't tolerate childishness from people who should know better. If he doesn't know better, don't waste your time on him. My guess is that you are still in school, a little pond compared to the ocean that awaits you. Stay free and meet new people all the time. When a good guy comes along, he will bring out the best in you, even if it is just for a moment. Be bold about yourself. People who want to know, ask. People who don't know or are unsure, won't ask. Take any acceptance with a grain of salt and know that even best friends are capable of betrayal. Take rejection for what it is--another person's loss to find out what a great person is like.

He wanted to see if he could make you jealous. If he did, maybe you cared a little more then you thought? If you could care less who he was with, let his ego be and walk away, because in your eyes what he was thinking really was uninteresting to you in the first place.

If you got mad, it means you like him as well and if you didn't care, then you didn't like him. He was using the situation to find out how you felt about him.

the reason was because he wanted to know if you really liked him or something. Try to talk to him, and tell him how you feel.
