Depends on the person. You know him. Is he the type to find solace at home or does he tend to unwind by going out? Whichever way he unwinds, make a day of it. Take him out somewhere or spend a nice day at home just the two of you. Talk to him, but don't try to make him talk about what stresses him. Just let him talk about whatever he wants, including not talking. Don't try to solve his problems. If he expresses desire to be left alone, then leave him be. If he seems all withdrawn and to not want to talk, then that's fine. Ask him if he wants to be left alone. He may not want to hurt your feelings but doesn't want to talk. Lots of men just want to be left alone. Don't take it personally. It's not a rejection of you. It's just his way of coping with stress. If he wants to be left alone, then bake him some cookies and bring them to him. Show him that you care and be there.
On the more physical side, touch him and give him a hug. Take a nap together and lay next to him. Cuddle him in your arms. Ask him if he wants a backrub. Not from some massage place, but from you. If he seems up for it, take the initiative and relieve him. Don't push it if it seems like he's not into it. I've found that a handjob or a loving BJ where all he has to do is to relax is better than an active sex session. Work great as a follow up after a backrub. Don't tease him and such, just get him some physical release. His mind is probably not going to be thinking about relieving himself through sex if he's stressed and preoccupied with other things, so you have to do it for him.

plan something fun that the two of you can do together that you know he will enjoy that will get him away from his stresses...take him to a sporting event, a nice dinner, etc.
also, sex is always a good stress reliever
