Let's say that you tell a good guy friend of yours that you want only friendship when he tells you that he likes you. If he just keeps getting closer to you and refuses to take no for an answer, how are you likely to react??

This happened to me. A guy friend of mine was very persistant, and I always pused him away. But then something happened and I realized what a great guy he was, and I agreed to date him. Three years later, he's my finace, and we're very happy.
Don't give up!

More than likely this would scare me away. I'd probably try to introduce him to some of my single friends so maybe he would have interest in one of them. It seems like he seeks attention, try your best to further yourself from him, don't give into phone calls, visits, etc and eventually he'll get the point.

I know it's hard to let go of a friendship also but you have to establish that you don't want to "be with him" before you can continue a normal healthy friendship.

I actually had this happen to me. I was visiting my one male friend in SC and one night we were just hanging out watching TV and he came on to me. I was like...whoah buddy back up. I don't like you like that. We're just friends. He continued to get closer to me and he tried to kiss me. I didn't know what to do. So, I just got up and ran in the bathroom. He said that he was sorry and the next day I packed my stuff up and left a day early from my vacation. We are still friends...but it's not the same.
I hope it all turned out for the best for you and that he did finally take no for an answer. If not...you should talk to someone.

Well think about it from his point, im sure hes findin it really hard being friends with u when he really likes u. Try not to go mad over it just ignore it and hope it fades away. If it doesnt then u will have to tell him again that u are really not interested but still want to be friends.

well, let me say this if you have told that person that you only want to be friends and they dont except you answer let them know for the last time then most likely just keep your distance so that you can let them know. just go see other people so that they can know for themselves that you werent joking. Also let them know that you dont want to mess up your relationship with them

I'd just come out and say that I dont want a relationship and if he doesnt listen i'll just ignore him anytime he tries to talk about it or show that kind of affection.

its hard for girls to be flat out mean to a guy .. especially one who is your friend.. but guys frequently ruin friendships by acting like that because it makes the girl so uncomfortable

I'd tell him "I told you I just wanted to be friends, if you insist on trying to have more, our friendship will be over"
