Friend, I did not read the whole thing, As a Christian, Other then tithing or giving an offering in my storehouse(My Church) I don't fall for all this so called religoius tactics, I have seen them all in my 37 yrs; of serving God. I don't see anywhere in the bible that God had to beg for money & none of his Apostles, Where I go to church at since 1974, We have not one time pass an offering plate, Because we believe in tithing, & my pastor had been around this world 4 times preaching since 1952, & all supported only by tithing, We have a little slot in church where people drops their tithes & offerings in.

Yes it is sad. It is sad that there is people who sell their souls for filthy lucre.

Paul said, "Just as farm workers who plow fields and thresh the grain expect a share of the harvest, Christian workers should be paid by those they serve.
We have planted good spiritual seed among you. Is it too much to ask, in return, for mere food and clothing? If you support others who preach to you, shouldn't we have an even greater right to be supported? Yet we have never used this right. We would rather put up with anything than put an obstacle in the way of the Good News about Christ.
Don't you know that those who work in the Temple get their meals from the food brought to the Temple as offerings? And those who serve at the altar get a share of the sacrificial offerings. In the same way, the Lord gave orders that those who preach the Good News should be supported by those who benefit from it. Yet I have never used any of these rights. And I am not writing this to suggest that I would like to start now. In fact, I would rather die than lose my distinction of preaching without charge. For preaching the Good News is not something I can boast about. I am compelled by God to do it. How terrible for me if I didn't do it! If I were doing this of my own free will, then I would deserve payment. But God has chosen me and given me this sacred trust, and I have no choice. What then is my pay? It is the satisfaction I get from preaching the Good News without expense to anyone, never demanding my rights as a preacher.
This means I am not bound to obey people just because they pay me, yet I have become a servant of everyone so that I can bring them to Christ. "

The Bible teaches us that in the last days there will be a great falling away, called The Great Apostasy by some people. It's not a rejection of Christ, but a perversion of His Word. This is a good example. I see stuff like this all day long on TBN. Paul and Jan Crouch are big fans of this heresy.

Although I did not read your link, I can assume pretty well what it discusses. I do not believe in tithing, its just a stupid idea. Its obvious its just a money scam, why dont we sacrifice animals still? Because that costs money! Of course they pick and choose traditions they want to keep, the ones that give them money. You want to sacrifice 10 percent? burn it in the backyard. The idea of tithing is related to what Buddhism teaches. you should be able to give up anything for God, whether its money happiness or your life. read some L. Ray smith letters if you want some better information (this is off the top of my head).

Pentacoastals...good grief.

This is a much more blatant version of what disgusts me about the organized relgions, particularly the so-called "Moral Majority". Their calls for money and obedience are not for their deity of choice but for themselves. To use a Christian reference, these guys are the moneychangers in the temple. What's even wierder as that these clowns actually believe the idiocy they are spouting.

I am an Atheist, and honestly, nothing surprises me about "Religious" people.

I am of the opinion that religion was created by some lazy SOB who felt entitled to 10% of what you have. Sounds a bit like a politician doesn't it? At least God settles for 10%, a politician wants 110% of it. That's really bad, I don't know which of them will feel insulted but I'm sure I will be hearing from one group or the other, if not both.

You do not have to pay money to be blessed by God. That is a lie. Blessings are not to be bought, they must be earned through obedience to God's Word. Stop reading garbage and start studying the Word of God which is the truth in the KJV Holy Bible!

How could anyone believe that you have to pay to be loved by someone who says it's very, very hard for the rich man to get into Heaven? HOw could anyone believe that He who is so merciful wants money in exchange for blessing?

No you are right that you don't have to pay. But what you must do is belong to the right club. Dress in the right manner. Hold the right people in distain. Vote for certain people. Be of a certain political party. Be a hypocrite.

Oh the list would go on and on........

Yes it does suck. Just read about some of what the Catholic Church did hundreds of years ago. They sold papers that said u weren't going to hell. They were called the sells of indulgences. Past history really shows how no one is perfect even if the person is a pope.
