my mum and her partner (aged 40) have been together for about 2 years but what can she get him for valentines day, that is special also something that does'nt have to be expensive or maybe different. please give us some good ideas!

Rather than give him something why don't you give him a clue as to something they could do. For example she could give him a shell and say be ready on Sat. Then she could pack up a beautiful picnic and go to the beach and the present to him would be her presence...
