When the Holy Ghost bares wittness with your spirit that you are a son or daughter of God, The baptism of the Holy Ghost is a seperate experince than just repenting, It is true some can recieve it at the time they repent, But everyone has to come through Jesus Christ By repenting & being Baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ & then you shall recieve the gift of the Holy Ghost, That Holy Ghost is God's seal of approval that we have truly repented.

What you call the Holy Ghost is also called the Holy Spirit, That which dwells within you. You realize this when you look within and awaken to the Real.

In Galatians, Paul listed some "fruits of the spirit". Typically, to feel the Holy Ghost present in you, you'll be feeling one of these. I'm assuming that's what you mean when you say "have the Holy Ghost". But I could be misreading your question.
Galatians 5.22-23
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

If you have truthfully accepted Christ as your Savior, and ask for forgiveness, then the Holy Spirit joins with your spirit of life (already existing in you) and He dwells in you.
When I accepted Christ as a 16 year old, the next morning, I awakened with a churning in my heart. Kind of like a heavy heartbeat, a warmth, and my heart would "flip-flop."
I didn't know what was wrong with me. That feeling followed me every day for a week, and I thought I was developing a heart condition. I told my Christian friend, and she explained that it was the Holy Spirit. When she told me, I definitely felt it!
So, it's not imagined, like people say. It's a true, bonified, physical feeling in your heart, which is a guide for you all the days of your life.

If you are saved, you will know it. Receiving the Holy Spirit is evidence of you Salvation. Evidence of your salvation is a Godly change in you.
You don't have to roll around on the ground and speak in tongues, etc.

When you ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, the Holy Ghost seals you for ever. Not necessarily a feeling although there could be.I asked him that question ,as I lay in bed once about 25 years ago and he sent an electric shock through me that made me bounce up.I said "Ok ,thanks ,I believe you ,I won't ask again!"true story.(I was wondering why I didn't speak in tounges and all that,I started to doubt myself, but I've grown up since then)

When you do the right thing and pray and listen to God. Plus you need all the faith that you have. You have faith that the sun rises and sets every night and day. That's the same kind of faith that you use for your pathway to a better life
