We're having English style pastys for dinner tonight. Yummm. These and a salad, and dinner's complete.

How many of you in the US have heard of these? I live in Michigan. One of the churches sell these as a fund raiser. I buy lots, and freeze them. Only $3 apiece, and they're large.

Wonderful things. Pie crust filled with carrots, potatoes, rutabaga, chopped onion, and meat. We usually have ground beef in ours, but you can use any meat. Many used leftover chicken or pork, or whatever. Hubby likes gravy over his.

And yep, I live in the UP.

No, BlueSea, pastys are not pot pies. Not even close.

I've heard of them, aren't they on the order of a calzone but with fillings like beef stew or beef and mushrooms and the crust is more of a flaky pie crust?

I love a good pasty. I am lucky enough to be able to get these in the midwest.

I have not heard of a PASTYS. Do tell!
Ok, looked it up. Sounds like dough that can have a variety of fillings.

Ah, have you never heard of a PotPie? Those abound in the U.S.
