Because for the longest time, tattoos were only displayed on sailors and women of "looser" morals (makes me laugh every time). Now anymore, anyone from your neighbor to your grandma has a tattoo, but that doesn't mean the stigma from them has worn off for people that still think they are tacky. Therefore they feel that if you have a tattoo, they can tell you their opinion of them. It's a narrow minded ignorance that makes people in general feel that they can say whatever to whomever they want, just because they disagree with that. Like people who judge and comment others on the color of their skin, or religious preference. They grew up with the mind set to think one way, and rather then form their OWN opinion, they keep the one they were told as a child. It's a warped cycle, like racism, and til every person thinks for themselves, the cycle isn't going to break. People don't have to like tattoos, and they can think they are trashy or what have you, but that doesn't mean you need to tell that to the person, keep they type of opinion to yourself. I for one love tattoos, and people can say and think what they want, I don't regret the ones I have, nor will i regret the ones I will get! Thanks for letting me express my thoughts!

I have 24 tattoos, and yes people are very judgemental and rude. You just have to learn how to rise above it. Its frustrating for people to come up and ask me if I have a light... no I dont smoke just because I love body art, and NO I dont own or ride a Harley either. Small minded people suck. And I can deffinitly tell you my 64 yr old mother is not a "loose" woman, she just got a small tattoo, her one and only tattoo, about five yrs ago.

well personally, i have never heard such hateful comments towards people with tattoos, until i came to yahoo answers.
i never realized how easy it is for certain people to hide behind a computer screen!
these people who are being mean, rude, and nasty, have probably never even come face to face with a person with tattoos, and if they do, they wont make those mean comments to their face!
i have never had anyone say any negative comments to my face about my tattoos.
i don't understand why a complete stranger would be so concerned with something that has nothing to do with them in the first place!!

i dont think everyones mean to tatooed people. i mean i think a few tattoos here and there r cool. especially on guys its hot. i dont have any but i think some people are intimidated by a person with a lot of tattoos. especially big guys with them but its kinda funny cuz they judge someone as maybe rough cuz they hav a lot of tattoos but after u talk to them most end up being pretty cool.

Honestly i hate tattoo, i don't like people who have it but i don't consider myself mean to them because is their life and their body and only them are responsible for what they do with it.

I will give you some of my reasons why i dislike tattoos:
1. It is scientifically proved that tattoos after a period of time the may cause skin cancer.
2. Only wild people tattooed their body, if you get what i mean; people with low moral

I'm not sure. Probably the same people who sterotype everyone. By their hobbies, skin color, and even their job.

I'm personally not mean to persons with a tattoo. It's your perogative. If that's how you like to express yourself, then go for it.

But people who are mean to others just by their outward appearances, are usually those who have issues with themselves.

Try not to take it too personally. You're not the one with the problem, they are!!!

Sorry for others' ignorance. Wish ya well though!

One reason is that they get attention from others for their behavior. For example other people may encourage them or make them feel important because of their behavior.

Another is that they may get a reaction from the person they are mean to.

Yet another reason may be that someone somewhat like the person they are mean to has in the past scared them or been mean to them.

Not everyone is mean, but a large majority is. Usually its for personal reasons, biased and outdated mindsets or due to sheer fear and lack of understanding for why people get tattoos.

Just let it go. If you are happy with what you have done, that's all that matters.

They look at Tattoo as a Taboo. They are religious and believe the body is sacred.
