One american dollar is worth 7.76 yuan.
It all has to do with the cost of living in China vs US.
The avg, per capita income in China is a lot less than the US.
A US dollar is worth more there than here. About 14 times more.

Actually, US Dollars are overvalued and RMB is undervalued. It's because of the fixed exchange rate, the booming Chinese economy, and the big trade gap.

i got 1 usd= 7.79 from bank of china during my visit in december, 2006... but i think the rates keep fluctuating....
