I would go with a conditioning or oatmeal shampoo for dogs. They will moisturize the skin and help keep the dog from getting dandruff.

Don't use human shampoo, it has a completely different PH level. Because there tends to be some residue left, shampoos often leave white powdery or flaky bits on the skin. Really noticable on black dogs. Contact a groomer, there are shampoos available especially for black dogs. Or check in your pet store. Can't remember the name of the one I use for my Danes - Midnight Black, maybe? The shampoo is dark coloured, so there are no white flakes left on the skin. Very highly concentrated stuff, only takes a little bit. And all shampoos should be diluted before you use them, so my groomer tells me.

I've never found that the color of a dogs coat had any bearing on what type of shampoo to use...
what you want to consider most is how often are you going to bath your dog? bathing a dog too often will dry out their skin. I bath my dog every 2 weeks, but I use a high quality shampoo for dogs, & I alternate it with Vetrolin shampoo for horses. (its green & smells really good, doesn't dry out their skin, either). when I am done shampooing, I put on a coat & skin conditioner all over.
He's clean, silky smooth, & doesn't stink! (c:
(oh, yeah, my dog is a black dog, too.)
