Is there anything I should know before hand? How do I learn how to score the game? Can you just go and play and not score? Are there any websites to explain how to the play the game? My husband has been before he met me but I'm not sure he remembers or knows how to play. Thanks!

Most courses wouldn't have a problem if you were to just ride along with him. If you've never golfed before, ie never even swung a club, i would not suggest going out there and trying to play. I think you'll have fun sort of being his caddy. MY wife loves just driving the cart and watching me play. Some courses have different rules, but follow the cart path rules, 90 degree rule means drive along the path until you get to your ball and then cut across 90 degrees. You can actually learn a bit of course management and have a head start learning what shots to hit and when to hit them by doing this. If you really want to play i suggest getting lessons first. or atleast be able to hit three clubs well, A fairway wood(3,5,7), a 7 iron, and a PW. And of course the putter! good luck.

Good for you, babe. I love golf.

Head down, eye on the ball, left arm straight, relax, you don't have to swing like a gorilla. Easy. Suggest you start with the high irons: 9, 8, 7, 6, 5 and forget about trying to hit woods at first. The most important part of the game is chipping and putting. HINT: New players should never hold up the game. Pick your ball up and hit from your cart partner's drive, second shot, etc. It will be more fun for everyone. Forget about keeping your own score at first. It'll just frustrate you. Go to a driving range to practice hitting balls.

Well, I'm going to be honest with you, I know NOTHING about golf butttt I have played once before. That one time I played oh dear I was so clueless! I knew the basics, I knew I was suppose to get the ball in the hole. It wasn't hard but it wasn't easy. I found it very fun, it's just boring to watch. I would say it's entirely possible to just play and not score. I tried to find a site but couldn't :(.

While you play golf do not be confused with the score, the person with the lowest score is winning. Okay. Also The person whos ball is furthest from the hole goes next. I'll bet he will let you win though, you know, since its valentines day.

I think its a bad idea if you bith dont know how to play golf. You cannot just go and play it'll take you at least 6 months of regular coaching to be able to even play a bit. I suggest you take him bowling or something like that.

never golfed before? I suggest you just drive the cart and observe the other golfers...then, if you think you would like to learn, have a pro teach you the basics...then practice, practice, practice, until you can hit the ball relatively decent....then go to a 9 hole, par 3 course and hone your skills before tackling an 18 hole course.....good luck and have fun.....

I am assuming that he knows how to play, then he'll explain it to you as you go. The impotant thing is to have fun and enjoy the time with your husband;face it that's why you're going but I think you'll love the game;I do.
