We got a brand new philips Surround sound last christmas 05' and just recently it will read "no disc" it plays some dvd's but not all, we bought a cleaner and it seemed to work but again it still says "no disc" sometimes..
When I called Phillips they said not under warrenty, 109.00 to fix. Said sounds like laser problems..
How can I fix it without paying 109.00 bucks.
And its surrpund sound so I can't just get another dvd player!

First possibility - If you bought it with a charge card you should check to see if you have one that doubles the manufacturer's warranty. If so, the charge card company would pay for the repair!

Next, The DVD player is integrated with the surround sound, correct?
Well you could go around to you local repair shops and see how much they would charge.

Finally, what input connections does your surround sound system have? It might be possible to by just a DVD player and hook it up to your system - but only if it has the right inputs.

For video from best to worst - component video, s-video, composite video.
For audio from best to worst - optical, coaxial, rca red / white inputs.
