i swear, nobody gets me. they all don't understand me. so they make assumptions and most of the time they are completely false. I'm trying to be myself, not caring what other people think, but it's really backfiring. My whole life I've been careful of what i said, always contemplating what i said before i said it. now i feel free and it's not working out. people think i'm an angry person. i'm not. people think i'm unmotivated, I'm not. people think I don't care, I do. people think I'm selfish, I'm most certainly not.
Now, why do I care? why should I get all upset because people think these things when my goal was to not care what people think. But now that they are thinking incorrectly It's bothering me a lot. it's also effecting my school and work. appearantly I can't NOT care what people think after all.

No.You should definitely not care what people think about you. But easier said than done right?
You said you used to measure everything before you said it, so maybe now people think that you are inconsiderate because you say what you are thinking. There is nothing wrong with that. If these people are so concerned with who you are now, they do not seem like people you should hang around. Friends are friends all the time, not when you are what they want you to be. Say what you want to say and don't let "friends" tell you who you should be and what you should say.

ok, u r trying too hard.
- first u were trying too hard not to care what people think. which made u come off as all the stuff u mentioned.
- Now u care way too much bout what people think.

Diagnosis: you think too much! and u have some insecurity issues (also i think u might have a little two much time on your hands to be thinking so much)

Cure: The truth is as human beings it is impossible for us not to care even just a little about what others think about us, thats why we are social beings. no matter how tough we think we are, we are gonna care.
So what u need to do is:
- stop thinking so much, get involved in some kind of activities (maybe a club) to occupy your time and learn to love yourself more, if u love yourself u would be agnozing your brain so much.

May I ask what life was like before you attempted to stop caring about what others think of you?? Back when you used to stop and contemplate - was anything different back then?

If so, then may I suggest you go back to your old ways?
If not, then might I suggest some professional counseling, as it sounds as if you have some issues with self-image.

As an asides: it is AFFECTING your school work, not effecting...

Dear Friend,

The best gift you can give to yourself is to love yourself and like you say, follow your way without caring what they say. Loise L Hay's book inner wisdom has some meditations and affirmations, that are good for everybody I think. Check her website.
Also check the song The Harder They Come The Harder They Fall by Jimmy Cliff.
Good luck my friend.

Everyone cares in one way or another what people think about them. weather it be that you wish you could fit in or if you just want people to accept you. i mean i am a very misunderstood person. i don't really have a clique. its my last year oh high school i graduated a year late and i am unique. i don't know what you would call me bc i am a little bit of a hippie a goth a punk and a loner i sit by myself at lunch i don't say but two words to people i am quiet and people are afraid that i am a phyco, and everyone assumes things.

the point i am trying to make is that i don't want people to like me i just want people to stop assuming things. like that i do drugs or a trouble maker. i just want people to say its OK to be me.

so i think that everyone wants people to stop assuming things about them. just like "preps" are classified a preps bc of the way the dress and they are expected to act a certain way and same with "nerds"

Everyone is judged by the way they look or act. its the sad truth its sad but its true.

Wow. You need to see a therapist/counselor. You think about yourself WAY too much and you need to get out of your own head. Believe me, other people are NOT thinking about you as much as you think they are. If people have the wrong impression of you, it's because that's the impression YOU gave them.
