I have difficulty speaking clearly and expressing myself. I tend to slur my words, stutter, mumble, or even mix up my words so I'm speaking nonsense. I'd really like to become more articulate and clear so that I can find a good job and just have more confidence in social situations. I'm a native English speaker who can read and write in several other languages, but my speech difficulties seem to carry over to other languages as well. Is there a good, preferably cheap, way to fix this?

Practice speaking out loud, like when you are typing. Then when you are done, repeat what you have typed as if you were actually talking to somebody personally. It's all about practice. You may talk to your friends every day, but get some time to yourself to practice talking out loud. Ask yourself questions every day when you have time like, "How do I feel about what she said yesterday?" You obviously know how you felt about it, but try to take time to think of an answer that clearly expresses what you think. You are good at constructing sentences in clear ways, so now all you need to do is learn to speak that way. Good luck, and remember - practice every day!

You're obviously an articulate young person. Try slowing down when speaking in important meetings (one-to-one or larger) - people will not knock you for this, they will think that you're considering your answer.
