I have a boy who is really tall but always under weight. He now has finally broke 30 pounds and is 21/2 years old. The car seat he has can be rear facing forward facing and a belt positioning booster. I live in Kansas the booster says he has to be 30-100 lbs. and 29-57. So can I have him in a booster?

I also have a younger son who needs the car seat and would rather buy another booster then another car seat.

go to coscojuvenile.com to see the laws in your state. there is also a section that explains the weight and height requirements a little more clearly.

He needs to be at leat 40 pounds, and also, mature enough to understand the need to sit still in his booster, and keep his belt on, and not behind the back. It sometimes help to pull the belt all the way out so it "locks" when it retracts (if your belts do this). I would personally not put a child in a booster until they were at least four years old.

I must say, I think some of the laws on kids safety seats are absurd! The law never used to be as strict, and honestly, if somethings going to happen to your child when in an accident, its gonna happen regardless of whether you meet the so called government or state laws. My s-i-l, has a son who is real slender and he would have been in a booster seat until he was like 10!! I say, go with whatever you're comfortable with. My 4yr old is about 41lbs, I've had him in a booster for a couple years now. Tho I'm thinking of taking him out in a year or so. Will be easier to accomodate my growing family. Seeings it would be a bit difficult with 3 car seats in the backseat of my truck. So just go with whatever you feel the most comfortable with.

My son is 5 and turns 6 next month and that i've got stored in a seat. He has a backless booster seat now and makes use of the automobiles seat belt. it is not not difficulty-free to go from vehicle to vehicle and it merely lifts him up so as that the seatbelt suits him ideal. there replace right into a gap whilst the regulation replace into he had to be in a carseat until eventually age 4 yet there replace into communicate approximately it changing to eight and 80 lbs so i merely in no way took him out of the carseat, and he would not be responsive to any incorrect way. it extremely is his seat and that's the place he sits. i'm specific the cop that attracts you over is easily not wearing a scale or inquiring to your childs beginning certificates regardless of the undeniable fact that it extremely is greater powerful to be secure than sorry. They declare the college buses are safer than automobiles and the difficulty with belts on buses is debateable. The seats are extreme to guard them additionally the buses are plenty larger and greater handy for the careless drivers to verify.

There is actually a weight limit not an age limit. He needs to weigh 40 lbs to be in a booster seat.

Most states require that children be four years old AND 40 pounds before they can go in a booster. Please keep your son in the car seat for now. He's just not big enough for the seatbelt. Good luck.

According to state law, yes you can have him in a booster. If you want him to be safe, keep him strapped in "forward-facing" as long as you can. It's much safer, particularly as he's skinny and a regular seat belt wouldn't fit him correctly.

you have to have them in a booster until they are 80lbs. that is what it is for our state. your child is old enough to be facing forward,if you are not sure go to your local state police barracks they will help you more and even show you the correct way to have your child in the seat. good luck i hope this helped you ! we have our child in a forward facing chair kinda looks like a captains chair with the seat belt across his lap and shoulders.

It depends on your seat requirements. He's heavy enough but still young. Try to stick it out until he's 3 and maybe weighs another few pounds just to be on the safe side.
