My TV started to conk out on me yesterday (go figure) and now today it worse. Yesterday I turned it on and thought maybe my TiVo box was off because I did not see a picture...well I turned the TV off and back on and got a picture...for a few minutes. Did it again and had picture all night just fine. Today I turned it on and the picture kinda scrunches up and then goes away...just gets to be a dark screen after a few minutes. Is this a minor (AKA worth fixing $$) problem or do I just have to kick it to the curb? The TV is only like 8 years old...would have expected a LOT more from a Sony...thanks in advance for helping me.

if it was a mirror, then you would have no picture at all. If you have a picture just fine some times, then it could be soldering connections or a leaky cap. Sonys are one of the better brands. might be worth getting it looked at, but by a smaller tech, they wont charge $100 just to look at it. My husband has been a self-employed tv tech for a few years, and all of his babbling sinks in a little.

Junk that thing. TVs have come a long way in 8 years. Go get yourself a nice hd tv, maybe something in a plasma screen.
Sweet.
