If you haven't already, I would strongly advise joining a gym or at least going jogging so that your exercise is separated from where you live. Many people buy treadmills and other similar machines to use at home, but after a month they aren't used for anything other than to hang clothes on. I find the best time for a workout is right after work because that's when you still have energy. If you let yourself go home and sit in front of the TV, there's no way you'll want to get up for exercise. When you do go to the gym or for a jog, bring a friend along because you can motivated each other and keep each other company which makes the time go by quicker. If you can't bring someone with you, set up an appointment with the trainers at the gym. They are very friendly and knowledgeable, while definitely giving you more than enough motivation without making you feel intimidated. If you can't afford or don't want a trainer, my best motivation is burning a CD or putting all your favorite upbeat songs onto an MP3 player and workout to the music. Just try to exercise for at least 30-45 minutes straight because any less won't make much of a difference.

Psychologists say that you have to do something 21 times before it becomes a habit. So go into it knowing that if you can get past the first few weeks of daily workouts, it will get a lot easier to keep yourself motivated down the road. For the first month, work with a personal trainer. He/she will keep you motivated to show up (because it's by appointment) and they will show you the ins and outse of the gym so you know you're doing everything correctly, and you won't feel daunted by a complicated looking machine. Beyond that. suppliment your gym routine with an activity that you already enjoy (swimming, biking, climbing, rowing). Team sports can be a great way to keep you motivated because you're meeting new people with similar interests. And don't allow yourself to fall off the wagon completely. A lot of people make resolutions and then the resolution falls apart and they think that because they've broken the resolution, they can't unbreak it so they don't try. Allow yourself a few mistakes, and if you fall off, jump back on! You'll be so glad you did.

It sounds really vain, but working out in front of mirrors and with a good training partner helps me. I replay all the good things that come from having a good body and imagine how it will improve further if I push myself harder. I also look around the gym and have a private competition in my head.... "I lift more than him".....I have a better chest than him"......"I'm more cut than him"......"My arms are bigger than his", etc. As you improve you will look better every week and get more attention - just remember the first time that you get a group of girls all wanting to feel your body in pubs or clubs - its a real boost and gives you motivation to make sure it happens again. Look at some of the lardy boys you see in the street and remember what makes you different to them

personal you need to set yaself a goal, and have a large amount of will power..... try to get hold of a supplement called Kaffiene Kick, that works for me.... also go to Holland and Barrett to buy Super Strenght Guarana and take two bout 20 mins pre training, also try to get some complex carbs bout 2 hours pre training, Cous Cous is the best option!!

Definetly start your diet with a friend. It helps a lot knowing that there's someone else doing it WITH you, and that you aren't alone.

Also, keeping a diary everyday of what you eat and drink helps you realize how much or how little you eat, so that you can manage it.

Good luck! :D

easy one......as you're working out....be sure not to think or say to yourself comments such as "this sucks", "maybe this isn't worth it after all", "****, this really hurts", "I'll never see the results, so I give up".

Condition your brain (this is where discipline kicks in)....to say positive stuff like.... "yeah, i'm getting there", "I'm gettin stronger and stronger", "this is the ****" ...etc, etc.

You'll soon learn to become your own self-motivator....people will hate you for this....but you'll leave them speechless in your wake. Good luck and stay with it. It'll all be worth it I guarantee!

you gotta workout with a friend to introduce an element of competition and push each other on but most importantly find an exercise regime that you actually enjoy and that is realistic

Bring a friend who would work out too so that you're not alone when you do your workout. It will also help you not to notice the days have just passby.
