The Bible is quite detailed about how long folks lived especially in Genesis - who lived at the time, what nations were around, or who was ruling where, etc. The Bible also leaves special tidbits in the genealogy writings about some persons birth during a special event and so being meticulous with the details we have been able to estimate whose life overlapped other folks life and with a minimal error have came up with a time line chart.

They try to do it by the geneologies. But sometimes people are skipped over and so you can lose a few 100 years sometimes.A lot of it is determined by archeological digs and carbon 14 dating of cities and such.

There are secular clues... i.e. who was king of what country that give a rough timeline.
There are also secular text that confirm when things were written. And in some cases, the author of the Biblical text tells you when the text is being written.

It's extremely difficult to figure out, actually. Adding confusion is that many books, especially older ones, were apparently written by more than one person. Genesis, for example, has at least two authors.
For a fascinating read, check out Karen Armstrong's "A History of God".

nobody knows the time length of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. If you think about the first day God created the world, was SUNDAY, 2nd day Monday, 3rd day Tuesday, 4th day Wednesday, 5th day Thursday, 6th day Friday and the 7th day is the Sabbath Saturday.
