It's a pekinese and a beagle mix.

I think it's such a new designer experiment that people can only guess on it's possible long term medical problems that may or may not be passed genetically(depend on the parents). Temperment would be the same as any other mixed breed I would imagine. Again,it will depend largely on the mating pairs makeup along with training from the adoptive family.

I hate to tell you this, but even answers from people who own such a breed will not help you. Important point: two mixes from the same parents can have very different personalities. No one can definitively tell you what they are going to be like.

No one can definitely tell you what their health will be like----unless they have all of the health information on the dogs, their siblings, parents, aunts and uncles, grandparents, grand-aunts and uncles, etc.

The only way to know how healthy a dog is likely to be is to see how long the other dogs in the family lived, what they died of and what other health problems showed up.

I doubt this kind of record keeping is taking place for the new "mixes" because of the mistaken belief that crossing two dogs from different breeds create "hybrid vigor" and they don't have the problems of purebreds.

Baloney. My old mix was a great dog who suffered many health problems that a good breeder would have screened for and NOT bred dogs which carried the problem.

IAs for behavior, if this is a peke and beagle cross, the dog could look like one parent and act like the other.

With crosses there is no consistency or predictability for temperaments or behavior. If you have two breeds with very similar temperaments you have the best chance---but again, no guarantees. So asking others about the mix will give you a limited picture. It is not like asking peke owners about pekes as all pekes have some similarities.

BTW Even if the "breeder" has bred two peagles, and then bred a second generaton, you do not any any guarantee of what the dogs will be like. You could have a dog with two generations of peagle parents and it could come out looking and acting like a beagle with little or no peke in it.

For all the ignorant folks who dispute this---take a look at people. Ever met a pair of brown eyed parents with a blue eyed child? How about a family of brown-haired kids with one red head in the bunch? Genes---especially recessive ones---are freaky. It is only through generations of careful dog breeding that consistency is acheieved.

Don't misunderstand me: mixes are great. I had one that I loved so much it nearly killed me to put him down at age 13. He had many of the best qualities of labs, dobermans and g. shepherds. But he also had the health problems of all 3 and lousy hips and required special care for many years of his life.

If you want a mix, find a healthy adult at a shelter where you'll get an idea of the final size, temperament and health.

One last note :
************ANY DOG THAT HAS A NAME THAT SOUNDS LIKE "PEE" WOULD BE A WARNING SIGN TO ME. HOW HARD IS IT TO HOUSETRAIN ONE OF THESE THINGS???

Good luck looking for a dog. Please consider a rescue group and if you cannot find what you want there, find a reputable breeder of a small breed that checks their dogs for health problems, shows their dogs or has other evaluates their worth and wants to work with you to make sure you have this dog for the rest of its life.

I have never heard of that mix. But I do have a full blooded beagle and she is very good natured and sweet. She lets my nieces roll around on the floor with her and she has never snapped at them even when they have taken food out of her mouth. She has had great health except we are going to have to put her on a diet because she is getting a little heavy and I am afraid it will make her have problems with her joints.

Peagle Dog

Peagle, no. Puggles yes that is a cross betwixt the Pug and Beagle....possible that a peagle is a cross betwixt the Pug and a Poodle? Not sure about how that would be, not a very sound pooch for one thing and there would be an awful lot of health risks trying to compesate for malformities....the cross beeding is out of control for designer poochies! CRAZY!
