I just had to get my picture taken for a passport and I was told about the restrictions so I looked it up on the Internet and found out if you are going to get your passport at the post office alot of the postoffices are now taking pictures too just look it up at your local post office I thought it was going to be a real pain but it turned out being very easy!

If you are doing this for a US passport, be careful - there are specific regulations about the background (what colors it can and cannot be) how much space there must be between your head and the edge of the photo, your ears must be visible.

You can get the full requirements from a passport office or probably on line - but make sure the place where you go for your pictures knows them and is experienced in dealing with them. they WILL return your application if the photo does not meet their specifications.

most Fedex Kinko's will take passport photos we charge $14.02 including tax
thats in southern California Los Angeles county, other Kinko's
may charge less in different states..
