Where I work is a small office (10) people. We have a big conference room and our office closes for lunch and everyone goes at the same time. Sometimes when it is cold we all stay around and eat in the conference room. Anyway, everytime we do this one of my co-workers (male) blows his nose after he finishes eating. It is sooo disgusting. Everyone just kind looks at each other but no one says anything. Should I? What would you do?

Yes, politely take him away from everyone by saying hey can I talk to you for a sec "with a smile" Then tell him that since the office is so small and everyone feels a little uncomfortable that you're blowing your nose especially while we're eating. Just say everyone blow their nose and it's ok but we do it in the bathroom. So tell him that is what you do so he should do the same as well. Take care.

Ignore it. Yes, it's bad manners, but he may not have been taught that blowing one's nose at the table is impolite. And it's entirely likely that he's one of many who have a natural nasal discharge as a reaction to eating. Some react only to dairy products, but for others it doesn't matter what they eat, their noses start running as soon as they take the first bite, making it very hard to breathe while trying to take in sustenance.

I think people are getting stupider by the moment for not saying anything and simply "looking at eachother".

Is it so difficult to approach this person and kindly say "I understand you need to blow your nose but is it possible that you can step away from the table after eating? We find it a bit disturbing that you do this at the table but we appreciate your cooperation".

When i see you blow your nose after lunch i feel disgusted because i have a need for purity at the table. Would you be willing to blow your nose outside the door after lunch?

yes, you should say something and this is a good start.
i am using marshall rosenberg's method of nonviolent communication.

you state the event clearly
"i see you blow your nose in the conf room"
then your feeling
"i feel disgusted"
and then the basic human need under it
"my need for purity at the lunch table is not met"
then the request (would you be willing)
"would you be willing to blow your nose outside the door to the room?"
or if you prefer
"would you be willing to go to the bathroom to blow your nose"
you have to tell what you do want (a positive)
instead of asking them to stop something.

Who blows their nose at the lunch table? Even if you say something, he is probably not going to get it. Is anyone a really good friend to him?? Probably only that person can say something.

I don't know that there's anything you can do about it unless you're bold enough to suggest he use the restroom for that or to joke with him, "UGh! You're killing our appetite with that nose-blowing thing!" Everyone else in your office will be grateful if you speak up but it's tricky.
Good luck!

I would ignore him. I think it's more disgusting for a person to suck the germs up the nose rather then blow it out.

As long as he's using a tissue and not blowing into his sleeve leave him alone he can't help it. When it's cold my nose runs like a faucet. Would you rather have him constantly sucking it back up into his head.

Would you rather hear him blow his nose or watch his nose drip all over the table and get germs all over you.
