Randy Jackson says this a lot on American Idol and I don't know what he means by it.

A lot of you are saying that it means something like "Thanks for having my back." But you usually hear Randy say it to the bad contestants after they've just been told they didn't make it to Hollywood. He'll say something like, "Sorry dude but singing's just not your thing. Good lookin' out though." So "Thanks for having my back" doesn't really make sense in this context. Any other ideas?
