There are a lot of rules to golf so i won't go over that. There are various rules and they are pretty confusing if you try to read the rule book. The point of golf is to get a ball into a cup. You do so by using your clubs and putter. The whole point is to do it in a few strokes as possible. Every time you hit the ball, it counts as a stroke. Every hole has a PAR rating. 3,4 or 5. For simplicity, the lower number means a shorter hole. You are expected to finish that hole and that many strokes. Don't feel bad if you can't, not a lot of people can, including me! its the way you keep score. Par is the even line. if it takes you 5 strokes to finish a par 3, that 2 over Par. at the end of 18 holes you add them up and subtract it from the courses par rating, usually 70-73. so if its a 72 and you shoot 82, thats 10 over(+10). if you shoot a 69, its 3 under (-3)

Par is the number of strokes allotted on a certain hole, like 3-4 or 5 or for an entire course like 72 ! The object of the game is to put the ball in the hole is the fewest number of strokes !!
