if all you are doing is dropping off or picking up a passenger who is standing ready at the curb, then no police officer with an ounce of sense would ticket you...if, however, you parked and left the vehicle unattended in a marked no parking zone, then you should rightly expect to be ticketed.

Sure go ahead and park there. I'm sure it won't block a fire hose. But, don't cry when the fire truck runs over the motorcycle because it was blocking the fire hydrant. Why do you think they made that a no parking/fire zone in the first place? Have a great day!

No "parking" means no parking, doesn't say anything about standing.

If it says "No Parking or Standing" then I would question it.
